Top 10 Restaurants in Rome: from Michelin-starred restaurants to local trattorias

This list of the Top 10 restaurants in Rome will be especially enjoyed by foodies, and by many of our beloved travelers who are eager to discover local cuisine and food specialties.

In the Eternal City, we are lucky enough to have thousands of restaurants at our doorsteps, but just a few can be list among the very top when it comes to the food they serve.

One of the most authoritative Italian online magazine on food, Scatti di Gusto, has recently published a list of the best 100 restaurants in Rome. We decided to narrow this list down to the top  10 restaurants, including both the first 5 Michelin-starred venues and chefs, and the first top 5 local trattorias.

If you are looking for a unique gastronomic experience and to celebrate a special occasion, Rome offers plenty of choices that won’t leave you disappointed.

1. Imàgo – Hotel Hassler

Located at the 6th floor of the Hassler hotel in Rome, Imàgo offers a unique panoramic view over the city and a stunning culinary experience.
The Head Chef Francesco Apreda’s reinterpretation of regional cuisine has earned Imàgo one Michelin Star.

We recommend it on special occasion and for a romantic dinner.

 2. La Pergola – Rome Cavalieri

La Pergola is the only restaurants in Rome which received the great honor of 3 Michelin Stars, thanks to the hard work of the Head Chef Heinz Beck and his crew.
During the years, authoritative guides such as l’Espresso and Gambero Rosso have consistently voted La Pergola the “Best Restaurant in Rome”. Its fine location and exclusive ambience inside the Cavalieri Hotel are perfectly matched with its culinary excellence.

3. La Trota

In Rivodutri, a small Italian municipality of 200 inhabitants, less than 100km away from Rome, there’s la Trota restaurant, established and run by two amazing chefs and brothers, Sandro and Maurizio Serva.
It took the two brothers almost 30 years of hard work to make their culinary philosophy, which consist in elevating simple and poor ingredients to the excellence, to earn two Michelin Stars.
This restaurant is now renowned for its superb menu of carp, tench, freshwater crayfish, eels, pike and, of course, trout and for its relaxing atmosphere.

4. Il Pagliaccio

Colors, movements, shapes, spices and the best ingredients are the key elements of il Pagliaccio’s culinary philosophy. This high-end restaurant serves creative Mediterranean dishes in a chic dining room.
The Italian Chef Anthony Genovese will surprise you with its colorful menù, which expresses his own personal gastronomic philosophy and experience, revealing his culture about ingredients.
